Although data regulations changed on 25 May 2018, our commitment to protecting your details will never change. We want you to know that we take privacy very seriously. We always manage your details responsibly, and take great care to keep them safe and secure.

We store sometimes transfer your information to other authorities, so that we can operate effectively as a school and be able to positively implement our duty of care for the school community. Under data regulations we are lawfully able to do this to carry out tasks in the public interest and as part of our legal obligation.

We are being more transparent so that you know more about the personal information we hold. We have completed an information audit (located below) so you can see this information. Further information in also included in our data protection policy and privacy notices.

You have rights under data protection regulations, and we would like you to know what they are:

  • a right of access to a copy of the information comprised in your personal data. However we may consider applying an exemption to some information where our duties maybe potentially compromised.
  • a right to object to processing that is likely to cause or is causing damage or distress;
  • a right to prevent processing for direct marketing;
  • a right to object to decisions being taken by automated means, unless we have an overriding legitimate reason to continue;
  • a right in certain circumstances to have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed.
  • a right to claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Act.

We regularly take photographs of the children attending our school to capture and share learning and experiences. We may use these images in our school prospectus and in other printed publications that we produce. Photographs of children are used for their learning experience and to show educational activities and achievements. Photographs will be displayed in the school, in newsletters, on the school website and on social media. We may also make video or webcam recordings for educational or parental engagement uses. These may be posted on our website or YouTube channel.

Occasionally the media will take photographs or film footage of a school event. Pupils will often appear in these images. 

As a school we are aware that it is essential that photographs are taken and stored appropriately to safeguard the children in our care. We will never publish the names of any children next to any images or with any recordings.

We take our duty of care towards our school community very seriously. It is of our upmost importance. If you have any Safeguarding concerns regarding personal images and information being displayed, please do contact the school so that we can respond appropriately.

We will store information on Parent/Carers in order to keep you up to date with what's happening at school and to let you know about extra-curricular activities on offer for your child. We will use this information to send you the weekly school newsletter by email. If you have any concerns please do contact the school and we will act accordingly.
