Being the best we can be

Class 3

In Class 3, we aim to learn through exciting and hands on projects that are led by the children’s interests. Lessons are then planned and delivered in line with the National Curriculum.  The children’s interests influence our projects, and highly skilled teaching ensures full coverage of the National Curriculum objectives across the year and over time.  The projects run for an entire term, they involve exciting days for the children including trips, visitors, child led ‘Google’ days and WOW days.

The current Class 3 project is ‘curious carnivals’ and we will be looking at areas both carnival and circus related. I think this will be a really exciting and immersive opportunity for all of the children to learn. During this project, we will be looking at a how light and shadows can make effects and create illusion; famous magicians; the history of circuses and how they have developed throughout the years. We will also look at incorporating ICT within our project lesson with the use of a green screen which will allow the children to become a circus ‘ringmaster’.

During our projects, we aim to have opportunities for children to enhance their Literacy skills; writing at length as well as focusing specifically on grammar, punctuation and spelling objectives though a range of themed books.

Mathematics is also included, where possible, in our project and covers the objectives in the Year 3 and 4 curriculum. We teach Maths in practical and exciting ways, ensuring we deepen the understanding that children have of the three key areas; Problem Solving, Reasoning, and Fluency.

It’s going to be a really good and exciting term for class 3. I think the children will really enjoy the next topic, where there will be a lot of opportunities for learning!
