Being the best we can be

Learning

Class 1

In Class One, we are focused on ensuring there is a smooth transition between the EYFS curriculum and the National Curriculum. The classroom environment is organised to encourage focused, independent learning whilst also captivating the children's imaginations.

This term we will be learning about carnivals and celebrations across the world. We will begin with New Year and how it is celebrated in different countries. We will then be learning about Chinese New Year and the Chinese culture. Other festivals, we will be looking at will be Holi and Easter.

In Mathematics, this term we will be learning about multiplication and division. We will start by reciting doubles and halves to 10. After that, we will look at multiplication through grouping and sharing.

Every week, we have a guided reading session and encourage the children to read as much as possible at home. The children will be given plenty of opportunities to develop their writing and their understanding of spelling.
